The Ferrari 90 degree three liter V-8 motor/transmission assembly, as it first appeared in the 308 GT4 model in 1974, was structured on the same principles as the 65 degree V-6 motor/transmission unit used in the Dino 206/246 series of road cars, i.e. it was transversely mid-mounted with the motor forward of the rear axle line.
