The Enthusiast's Magazine of Ferrari

Cavallino is the journal of Ferrari history, covering Ferraris old and new for over 40 years. It's the most reliable, most trusted source of everything Ferrari. Ever since the first issue in 1978 Cavallino presents extensive stories and detailed information from knowledgeable experts and enthusiasts who share the passion for Ferrari. All Ferraris are unique, and each one has its own chassis serial number. This is how the Ferrari world keeps track of all the great cars. Cavallino is the only publication that prints the serial number for every Ferrari mentioned in our stories, articles, and race results.

The yearly classic and sports car show in Essen, Germany, the "Techno Classica", was a success again this year, and no less than thirty three Ferraris were presented by various dealers. One of the more interesting was the 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Tour de France, s/n 1143 GT. The "Rainbow" by Bertone, on a Dino 308 GT4, s/n 12788, was presented by the German Fiat X1/9 Club!

This impressive technological marvel has been shown in Switzerland and Japan, and to date, only two examples exist - a prototype which continues to circulate Fiorano on endless laps, refining the many innovative features found therein, and the show car which is s/n ZFFTA46B000099999. There was a third car spied at Geneva, but this was a wooden mock up on the Pininfarina stand.

As early as the mid 1950s and after only five years of producing cars in any quantity, Ferrari had begun building, albeit on a very limited basis, the ultimate grand touting car of its day, the Ferrari 410 Superamerica. These cars were big bodied and big engined two place GTs capable of quickly delivering the driver and passenger to their destination in near royal surroundings.

Ferrari has built an F355 prototype to investigate the possibility of customers racing in GT events. The future destination of the car will depend on the evolution of regulations, especially on the relationship between normally aspired and supercharged cars. Its features are, however, deeply modified with the aim towards international GT races.

The 348 Challenge Trophy, born in 1993 to take Ferrari customers back to the races, has fully confirmed its success during the 1994 season. 1994 recorded a huge increase in the number of competitors, with the contest of the first North American edition, with the subdivision into three series for the European competitions, and with three test races in Japan.

It was a glorious evening at nearly 11:00 pm; the stars were finally out, the breeze was fine, the air was warm, the pits were excited, and the crowd happy, as Ferrari convincingly won the twelve hour race at Sebring, Florida.
