To celebrate the twenty fifth anniversary of the Ferrari Owners Club in Great Britain, it was decided to incorporate the celebration into Britain's premier historic race meeting, the Christie's International Historic Festival at the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire over the weekend of July 25 and 26. The idea obviously struck the right chord with members, as the turnout over the weekend was certainly the largest single gathering of the marque ever witnessed in England.

For the Best in Show at the annual Ferrari Club of America Concours in 1992 and for eleven years thereafter, the trophy will be a mounted piston and connecting rod from this Grand Prix 643 Ferrari V-12 engine. The power plant is courtesy of Ferrari North America and the Ferrari Factory, and it will reside in the showroom of Ferrari N.A.'s headquarters in New Jersey.
11NotizieNew President of Ferrari North America announced
As of August 1, the new head of Ferrari N.A. was Dr. Gian Luigi Buitoni. The announcement was something of a surprise in that Dr. Buitoni is not a Fiat of Ferrari executive being transferred into the post, as been the case over the past decade in the U.S.
Rather, he is an international businessman with close personal ties to both Fiat Chairman Gianni Agnelli and to Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo.

It looked and felt like Europe in June of 1956 again, not June in 1992. Ferraris lined up for a road race between metal fencing, flags waving in the breeze, chattering crowds lined up two deep behind the fences while track people moved the cars forward. The drivers, some with passengers, white T-shirts, motorcycle goggles and only a few with helmets, watched the flag carrying starter.

For the 1992 Meadow Brooks concours, the honored marques were first, all the varied exotic French Classics on different chassis, and two, the Aston Martin.
While the honored marques received their share of awards within their categories, there were numerous Ferraris capturing the judges' attention in the two sports car divisions at Meadow Brook.

Antonio De'Giusti

Many years ago when we began this small escapade called 'Cavallino', we included in our first ever issue of the magazine a profile of Professor Antonio De'Giusti, an artist who by then, in the late 1970s, was already famous in the small world of Ferrari. He had gained this special recognition partly because of a unique friendship and mutual admiration that had evolved between Prof. De'Giusti and Enzo Ferrari himself.

Louis Klementaski's camera opens an historic window, allowing us to view a moment during a watershed year in Grand Prix racing. To get the full effect of the image, we must digress.
Mercedes dominated top line racing in the immediate pre-World War II period. Banned from international competition until 1950, they reentered European Grand Prix racing in 1954 for the first time since the war.

On Sunday evening around sunset, the Factory was quiet. Walking the perimeter and looking through various crash in the walls, I saw several prototypes, tightly covered, that I couldn't identify. Surround then were new TRs, 348s, very few Mondials, and the last eight or so F40s, waiting for their final detailing.
The only sound was the hum of distant ventilators.

With the typical multi-year development time of an American car of the 1990s, it's hard to comprehend the former radical short Ferrari timetable for what would become the 250 Testa Rossa race cars. In essence, Ferrari race cars were not used solely for experimentation, nor were they simply development vehicles. They were to be raced and then modified as the occasion demanded.

Formula One Championship

Audouin de Forestier

Much news to tell, with John Barnard back on the payroll, and a new driver signed for 1993, but we'll proceed in some kind of chronological order.

Canadian GP - Alesi drives well and is third
French GP - Alesi impresses one and all in the Rain
British GP - Not a good Day; Alesi out, Capelli late
German GP - Alesi gains a fifth; Capelli is out
John Barnard rehired; team reorganized again
Senna is courted; Berger is signed

Much good racing to be had in England, as the Pirelli Maranello Challenge continues in fine form, and as the season wears on, it has become quite exciting, what with a different winner each race, and with some unusual Ferraris heading up the leader board.
