New Ferrari 348 TBF

The Ferrari Club Belgio held this year's event at the marvellous racetrack at Spa Francorchamps.
Members and spectators had the opportunity to see more than 160 Ferraris such as F40s, F40 LM, a 288 GTO (driven by Jean Sage), a 308 GTB Michelotto, and the Ferrari 348 TBF Competition, s/n 82881, converted by Garage Francorchamps, in their fine tradition of campaigning GT Ferraris.
250 LM, s/n 5901, takes it lumps
You may remember the cover and salon feature we did in Cavallino 28 of this wonderful 250 LM, s/n 5901, owned then, and now, by Ferrari friend and stalwart enthusiast, Joe Rosen. Mr. Rosen has several Ferraris, and what's great about him, is that he gets them out and races them every chance he gets. Sometimes things happen, as at Mosport, Canada, while dicing with some unruly Aston Martin.
The Eyes on the Classics
Of all the car shows in the world, this is the only Auto Design Show dedicated exclusively to the art of the automobile: past, present, and future.
This fourth annual event honored the late Harley Earl and Sergio Pininfarina for their Lifetime Automobile Design Achievement.
On Sunday, approximately 200 cars and commercial vehicles were presented to the public.
FOC Concours - Birtsmorton Court

After three consecutive years within the grounds of Brocket Hall, stately home of Lord & Lady Brocket, the FOC Concours returned to a former venue. For 1991 the rolling lawns of the magnificent period residence of Michael Dawes, Britsmorten Court, near Tewkesbury in Worcestshire, were the setting for the event.

1991 FCA National Meet

The National Ferrari Meet was held in early May near Washington, D.C. The headquarters location for the meet was Tysons Corner, Virginia, within earshot of Dulles International Airport.
Track events were held at Summit Point Raceway which has a delightful vintage feel, while the National Ferrari Concours took place at Sully Plantation, a beautifully restored 18th century country farm.
Seventh Annual Reading Ferrari Concours d'Elegance and Art Show
It all started seven years ago when an Italian organization offered me the opportunity to coordinate an "Antique and Classic Car Show," hoping that I would add a little Italian flavor to it. Little did they know that I was going to spice it up with a lot of Ferrari red pepper and what started as a gathering of Ferraristi on a Sunday afternoon, has grown into a premier Ferrari event.

On the Weekend of June 29-30 1991, proper Homage was paid to one of the great designers, and design firms, of the postwar era. "The Eyes on the Classics" honored Sergio Pininfarina for his contributions to automobile design, and particulary, we feel, to Ferrari.

In this year of Phil Hill, it is appropriate to hark back to one of his first truly impressive rides. In his own Ferrari 250 MM Vignale Spyder, series I, s/n 0260 MM, whereby, many feel, Mr. Hill matured as a driver.

Near Misses - a cautionary tale

I have a theory that for every accident there are 100 near misses. Statistics can always tell us that our chances of having an accident are negligible, but that's not much help to those who do. As the great comedian Tony Hancock once said: "You don't have to fall of a cliff to know it hurts."
So, the wise person takes every precaution, so far as he or she is able to control the situation.
Ferraris in Silver
Already in the pas I wrote you (and you published) a short article on an item which, as a hobby, I was doing, i.e. a reproduction in miniature form of a Ferrari 250 MM. Since the project is now basically completed, I send you enclosed a few pictures of the "finished product". A few technical details may be of interest. The models weighs about 150 grams and is about 90% 925 silver, the balance being 18t. gold.
643 Ferrari debuts, and hopes are raised
Ferraris carrying the flag
Ferrari came back from its none-too-succesful foray into the American continent, and promptly announced the arrival of its long awaited model "643" Grand Prix car, this being at Fiorano at the end of June in the hands of test driver Andrea Montermini.
The new chassis, s/n 127, was then taken to Imola for some testing against a standard 642, and both Alain Prost and Jean Alesi pronounced it a great improvement.

The English Show us how it's done
Pirelli Maranello Challenge
It is only from lack of space in previous issues this year that we have not given any proper coverage yet to that annual Ferrari competition entered in England, the Pirelli Maranello Challenge. Sponsored by Pirelli Tires and Maranello Concessionaires, the importer of Ferrari in Great Britain, the series pits "modified" and "original" late model Ferraris against one another for overall donors and class honours. The races are held at various tracks in England, with one off-island excursion to Zolder in Holland.
Ferrari-IMSA competition - the halfway point
With the halfway point of this season's IMSA Camel Light Championship still a recent memory, a quick review is in order. To date, Honda's Acura powered Spice has built up an eighty five point lead over the Denon sponsored Ferrari powered Spice.
This year's Ferrari effort has two stories, the first being the Italian team of Martino Finotto and Ruggero Melgrati.
