The Journal of Ferrari History

Cavallino is the journal of Ferrari history, covering Ferraris old and new for over 40 years. It's the most reliable, most trusted source of everything Ferrari. Ever since the first issue in 1978 Cavallino presents extensive stories and detailed information from knowledgeable experts and enthusiasts who share the passion for Ferrari. All Ferraris are unique, and each one has its own chassis serial number. This is how the Ferrari world keeps track of all the great cars. Cavallino is the only publication that prints the serial number for every Ferrari mentioned in our stories, articles, and race results.

It is 40 years since Schedoni first produced their famous fitted luggage for Ferrari, which all started when Mauro Schedoni was asked to produce a set of fitted luggage by his brother-in-law, Franco Folli, for his Ferrari 308 GTS, to maximize the available space in the trunk.

Christopher Arthur Amon was born on July 20, 1943, in Bulls, New Zealand, the only child of a wealthy sheep-owner. He quickly persuaded his father to buy an Austin A40 special on leaving school, to enter some minor local races and hill climbs, as well as an ancient Cooper 1500 cc in 1961, which he placed second first time out.

It all began way back in 1957 when the Federation Internationale de L'Automobile (FIA), motor sports' governing body, started tinkering with the rules pertaining to its Manufacturers' World Sports Car Championship. Five years later these changes resulted in the very special four liter V-12 Ferrari berlinettas that ran in 1962 and 1963.
