Journal of Ferrari History

Cavallino is the journal of Ferrari history, covering Ferraris old and new for over 40 years. It's the most reliable, most trusted source of everything Ferrari. Ever since the first issue in 1978 Cavallino presents extensive stories and detailed information from knowledgeable experts and enthusiasts who share the passion for Ferrari. All Ferraris are unique, and each one has its own chassis serial number. This is how the Ferrari world keeps track of all the great cars. Cavallino is the only publication that prints the serial number for every Ferrari mentioned in our stories, articles, and race results.

The latest undertaking from Ferrari's Special Projects division, to be handed over to the new owner, is the F12 based F275rw Compeitizione. This had its inaugural public showing at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali event at the Daytona International Raceway, held between the 1st and 4th of December 2016, having been delivered only a few days before the meeting.

For the first time in its hisotry, the Ferrari Finali Mondiali end of season gathering was held in the USA, or to be more specific, at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida. One of the benuses of this, compared to its more usual venue of the Mugello circuit in Italy, at this time of the year, is the weather in Florida is much more clempent and certainly also a lot warmer.

As the end of the 2016 season Ferrari in the various GT series and their drivers picked up a number of awards, as the transition from 458 series models to the 488 series of new turbocharged cars took place. The 458 series has remained a competitive force in both GT2 and GT3 guises, whilst the new 488 GTE and GT3 models are continuing on the foundations laid by their predecessors.

The RM Sotheby's Duemila Ruote auction, held at the end of November in Milan, Italy, during the Milano Auto-Classica show and offering no less than an amazing 817 no-reserve lots, results in $54.6 million in total sales. RM Sotheby's offered for sale a complete one-man collection in the largest auction ever in Europe. The collection, known as "the Treviso Collection" was owned by businessman Luigi Compiano from Treviso, Italy. This collection had been seized by the Italian government three years ago, following a reported fraudulent bankruptcy.
