The Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, for authentic racing Ferraris built prior to the 1980s, racing Maseraties of that period, and pre-war Alfa Romeos of the type raced by the Scuderia Ferrari, is organized by Ferrari North america, and sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association. The Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge divides racers into two groups, earlier cars with drum brakes, and later cars using discs.

New Ferrari 430 Scuderia officially unveiled by Michael Schumacher at the Frankfurt Motor Show

Ferrari SpA, Hugo Garritsen

In keeping with its very successful program of offering modified examples of its current production range in any given timeframe, Ferrari has announced its new 430 Scuderia, based on the current F430 Berlinetta and F430 Challenge. After the resounding success of the previous Challenge Stradale, which was based on both the 360 Berlinetta and the 360 Challenge car, it was a foregone conclusion that there would be a new upgraded F430.
34NotizieFerrari 430 Scuderia studied
The advent of the 430 Scuderia was expected, as Ferrari did so well with the 360 Challenge Stradale that it would be a profound marketing misstep not to bring out a sportier version of the already fast and powerful F430. Ferrari is not increasing production to fabricate this new model, but rather is carving out part of existing F430 production to facilitate this addition to the model range.
34NotizieFerrari FXX Program extended
As you know, the FXX Program was launched by Ferrari in June of 2005, and the object was to have these advanced cars be actual test cars, and their owners act as actual test 'pilot', to determine the feasibility of components for this ultimate customer car. There was always a question of what Ferrari would do after two years were over, and Ferrari has now announced that the program is being extended to 2009.

The 290 MM sports racing car, with a 3.5 liter V-12 engine and a Scaglietti built body developed from the shape of the Mondial / Monza series, was produced in a small series of four models carrying chassis numbers 0606, 0616, 0626 and 06288, during early 1956. At this time, Ferrari's main sports racing car output was concentrated on the four cylinder models, which for that year was the 500 Testa Rossa.

Just over fifty years ago, on the streets of Buenos Aires, three of the World Sports Car Championship's leading contenders - Ferrari, Maserati and Ecurie Ecosse - battled it out for overall honors at the season-opening '1000 Kilómetres de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires'. The venue on that occasion was a layout drawn on the city's coast front, the Costanera.

There's a scene in the movie 'The Right Stuff' where prospective astronaut Alan Shepard listens to a litany of all that can go horribly wrong in space flight, and says "Sounds dangerous - count me in!"
I had shown many cars in concours over the years, but only read about the three step path to the Ferrari Club of America's Coppa GT award. Sometime in the fall of 2005, I started to think about competing.

For the first edition of this event in October of 2006, a hundred exhibitors had answered "present" at the invitation of the Steering Committee, and more than 15,000 visitors made this new top-of-the-range show a total success. Consequently, the decision was made to organise in 2007, the second edition, also at the beginning of October, and according to the same formula...

The last round of the Ferrari Corse Clienti program for 2007 took place at the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, south of France. The entry on the circuit was now forbidden for the public, and so only the happy owners of an invitation had the right to attend. Twenty single seaters and eight FXXs were entered, distributed in three groups. No races were planned for them, only demonstration laps.

Each year, the Annual Meet travels from region to region, and the aim is to build the event around an important track. Most FCA members are very active, and want to take advantage of running their Ferraris on any track at speed, but even more so on a famous track. Not many are more famous than Watkins Glen, home of some of the great Formula One and sports car events of years past.

When you receive an invitation to participate in one of the classic road rallies in an early Ferrari, it is one of those occasions when it takes only a nanosecond to respond in the affirmative. All I had to do was get from London to Colorado to keep the appointment. The invitation came from Phil and Martha Bachman in Tennessee, who have participated in every running of the rally in their 1956 Chevrolet Corvette, and whom I have known for a number of years.

Plus the market as of December 1, 2007... from a survey of selected dealers
The turmoil in the financial markets is catching up to the devastation in the housing market, but so far other segments of the economy are doing well. What has happened in the last two months is that people with cash have decided to sit on it until a further direction in the markets is seen. This caution is translating into a hesitation in the car market, and this was seen as well in several recent car auctions where prices held up but the phenomenal rise appears over for now.
