Giorgio Perfetti collection

When Italian billionaire Giorgio Perfetti wanted to have some documentation on his Ferrari collection, he did not cut any corner. He commissioned a bunch a renowned motorsports authors and a professional studio photographer to create a series of 15 books.

Ferrari collector and Italian billionaire Giorgio Perfetti and his brother Augusto inherited the successful family ‘Perfetti’ business. Their father Ambrogio and uncle Egidio started the company in 1946 as a chewing gum business in a small town near Milan. The second generation Perfetti brothers acquired Netherlands-based Van Nelle and Spanish Chupa Chups thus becoming the world’s third largest confectionery manufacturer.

In the early 1990’s Giorgio Perfetti start acquiring cars for his collection of classic competition Ferraris. The task of researching the cars and writing these books was assigned to a group of renowned motorsports authors like Christian Huet, Doug Nye, Antoine Prunet, and David G. Seibert. Other experts like Jean sage were attracted to add their eye-witness experience on certain cars. Professional car photographer Pietro Carrieri was trusted to shoot the whole collection in a studio.

Each hardcover book (protected by a dustcover) details the history of one of Perfetti’s cars and their sister-cars. The books were published between 1993 and 1996 and have been sold out for over 20 years. In 1997 the serie was extended with a third book, detailing the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Spider California but for some unknown reason, the design diverts from it’s precursors. Nowadays complete sets are fetching high bids at auctions worldwide.
