Names from the past: Rob de La Rive Box

Most Ferrari enthusiast of today have never heard the name of Rob de la Rive Box. However, from the late 1960s through the early 1980s, Rob, or Robbie, as we called him, was a major player in the world Ferrari trade. Rob was from Villmergen, Switzerland and was, essentially, a used car dealer who specialized in exotic cars.

Goodwood Revival 2013

There are many historic race events, and many historic revivals, but non can combine the correct cars with such a magnificent historical setting, and be called a true Revival like Goodwood.

10,000 Tours du Castellet

The French gathering at Catellet (on the Côte d'Azur) was like a little Le Mans Classic (with the same organizer, Peter Auto). Almost 200 Prototype and GT cars participated in different groups for this CER (classic endurance racing). Overall a very nice event, a great track and paddock, with everything well accessible for viewing and taking pictures. We shall return.

24 Brandoli Artwork Collection

Egidio Brandoli is one of the most famous names in coachwork. Son Roberto has continued the fame with a new line of sculpted metallic artwork that utilizes the same fine metals and the same old world skills that has crafted some of the beautiful bodies of the early Ferraris.

Ferrari surprises with the Ferrari 458 Speciale

Is there life yet in the five year old Ferrari 458? Indeed. Besides the GT versions that show no sign of lagging, Ferrari has introduced a production 458 that is not far behind in power and performance. 605 CV at 9000 RPM and 540 Nm at 6000 RPM.

Ferrari 250 Europa Coupé Pinin Farina, s/n 0305 EU

Loads of chrome trim, big broad whitewall tires, bight contrasting paint scheme, plush luxury appointments - a car made rally for post-war America. It was a showcase car for both Ferrari and Pinin Farina, making the rounds of all the early Italian Concorso d'Eleganza. It came to America, lost its engine, lost its sex appeal, and was stored away for an uncertain future. But Europe took it back, found its engine, put it all back together and now we have this period piece to savour.

46 Enzo Ferrari's alter ego
The strong relationship between Minardi and Ferrari

A friendship, a business arrangement, a shared passion for motorsport - one of the little known facts of Ferrari lore - Gian Carlo Minardi was a test team for Scuderia Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari needed to scout new Italian driving talent; he called on Minardi to help get it done. And lent him several current F1 machines to do it.

62 Ferrari in Formula One 2013
F1 season draws to a close, but with hopes dimming for our favorite team.

Red Bull-Renault has found the magic equation, while Ferrari struggles with everyone else to gain ground on this seemingly unstoppable force. Playing catch-up is always a challenge.
