From its presentation in February of 1962, the Ferrari 250 GTO, the ultimate evolution of the Ferrari 250 GT series of cars, won almost all of its races by taking away that year the GT category in the Targa Florio, the 24 Heures du Mans and the Tourists Trophy of Goodwood. These exceptional success were crowned by the Grand Tourisme World Championship.
