Greenwich Concours sees sunshine and the sun shone on Ferraris

Rains has hampered this charming show in Greenwich, Connecticut, over the last few years (and many other shows as well), although the entrants still brought out their cars and the true enthusiasts came to enjoy, but such are the vagaries of weather in the northeast in summer. However, this year was exceptional, with sunny skies during most of the three day event.

Modena Motorsport Ferrari Track Days, Nürburgring, Germany

The Modena Motorsport Ferrari Track Days gathering at the Nurburgring attracted a truly varied selection of Ferrari models to the famous circuit in the picturesque Eiffel mountain region of Germany. Despite heavy rain on the preceding day, and the continuing threat from the dark clouds that swirled in a stiff breeze, a large number of Ferrari from Germany and the surrounding countries descended on the venue, to make it a truly international gathering.

18 Auction Mystery
And so, what happened?

The great Sotheby's at Ferrari Auction has come and gone, and as you have no doubt heard, the results were less than stellar. Non of the big cars sold, except for one, and a good deal of the memorabilia never found a home. But many of the less expensive cars, by that we mean cars estimated a $1,000,000 and less, sold very well, and ironically, seven of them sold for record prices.

28 Vignale at his best
The cohesive design of the 375 America Coupe Vignale, s/n 0301 AL

The 375 America series of Ferrari models was produced from late 1953 into late 1954, alongside the 250 Europa model which shared the same 2800 mm wheelbase chassis. The total production run for the two models was thirty one cars, although the breakdown has defied precise historical analysis to date. The reason for this is that some three liter (250) examples were upgraded to 4.5 liter (375) specification, and in some cases the reverse occurred.

Ferrari at the sports car tracks of the central USA - part two of six

Four cylinder Ferraris? You mean like old MGs and new Mazda Miatas? Yes, indeed, except that these Ferrari were race bred, and thoroughbred, DOHC engines. For you newer Tifosi out there, life wasn't always eight and ten and twelve cylinder Ferraris. Ferrari built some very ingenious and successful four cylinder engines in the 1950s, and you have to give some credit to the competition four cylinder British F2 cars of the era.

50 Why a Vee Twelve?
Enzo Ferrari was fascinated with the concept, and made it famous

Interesting question for Ferrari enthusiasts - and for Enzo Ferrari! What car really "hit him between the eyes," and caused his love affair with the sixty degree dodici cylinder power plant? Let's start by looking at what he himself said before delving deeper into the truth, in "Le Mie Gioie Terribili," published as "My Terrible Joys - The Enzo Ferrari Memoirs" in 1963 in English.
