12 Superamerica introduction
A new "Superamerica" is announced

If you were at Monterey this past August, and received the right invitation, you were maybe able to push your way through a crush of people to see this surprise unveiling. There were rumours of something new, and everyone thought of the then still secret F430, but the Ferrari staff kept murmuring about the "glass car", so everyone was very successfully kept in the dark until the moment the drape was pulled off to much fanfare.

14 F430 introduction
A new "V-8" is announced as well

We jumped the gun to bit by showing you photographs of the new F430 in the last issue, but they were such beautiful images and we had them in hand, so they went to press without delay. But it was in September that the car was introduced, and with quite a splash at the Mondial de l'Automobile 2004, which to us is the Paris Auto Show.

16 French Quarter Classic
The 5th annual French Quarter Classic highlights Ferrari, and fun

The 2004 edition of the Ferrari French Quarter Classic in New Orleans took place on November 11-14. This year's event, the largest ever, featured upwards to 120 cars taking part in events ranging from a police escorted road rally from downtown New Orleans to Interstate 10 on an 80 mile excursion out to Grand Bayou Raceway for a full day of track time, to a Concours, and to numerous social events.

A reunion of 0776 & 0778 - two brothers in arms

The Dino story started on January 19, 1932, when Enzo Ferrari's wife, Laura, gave birth to their only child, Alfredino, who became known affectionately by the diminutive of his name "Dino." Unfortunately, he was not a strong child, suffering poor health with debilitating muscular dystrophy, eventually dying of nephritis when only 24 years old on June 30, 1956.

40 P ... as in 330 P4 & s/n 0856
An appreciation of one of the most outstanding models ever made by Ferrari, and look at one particularly fine example

Its shape has been described as evocative, sexy, breathtaking, and just plain beautiful. It's certainly all of those, and a whole lot more. But despite its star quality good looks, the real essence of Ferrari's 330 P4 is what lies beneath its skin, that magical four liter V-12 engine that has Mauro Forghieri's signature all over it.

56 The first victorious 575M GTC
A day with Ferrari's newest GT race car

In August 2000, on my way to the Formula One Grand Prix of Belgium at Spa, on a drizzling Thursday afternoon, I was invited by Frederic For, who had just convinced Prodrive to develop a racing version of the Maranello 550, to see the car for its fist appearance on the Dijon race track in the heart of French Burgundy. The Prodrive car was the first prototype, and was driven by Alain Menu, who was the test driver for the Prodrive team.
