Like most professional journalists, I seldom feel the urge to respond to reviews of my work, but Michael T. Lynch's thoughtful, articulate and eminently fair examination of my Enzo Ferrari-biography deserves a reply. Before I comment on Mr. Lynch's offerings, it should be mentioned that the book, enjoys worldwide success. It is now available in the United Kingdom and has been published in Japanese, Spanish, Italian and German editions.

9 Ferraris appear at two celebrated tracks

America's two biggest vintage races, the Chicago Historic Races at Elkhart Lake and the Monterey Historic Automobile Races at Laguna Seca are now in the record books for 1992. These events, at two of the country's oldest permanent road courses and the other's placement near some of the nation's most exclusive and scenic resort communities on California's Monterey peninsula.

Louis Vuitton Concours d'Elegance

Paris is always worth a trip. For Ferraristi and other automobile enthusiasts, the best season is easy fall. In September, the renowned Concours d'Elegance, sponsored by Louis Vuitton and organized by French car magazine Automobiles Classiques, takes place in the lovely park of Bagatelle! The fifth beauty contest for automobiles at Bagatelle was held on the weekend of September 12-13, 1992, and again the weather was almost perfect.

11 Ferrari 250 GTO 30th Anniversary in Italy

In 1961 a special prototype was fitted with a custom made alloy body. The men at the Factory soon nicknamed this vehicle the "goose". Compared to the former 250 GT, the goose already had an improved chassis and many modifications. Based on this car, Ferrari then built the first real 250 GTO of 1962. In the meantime, thirty years have passed by.

16 FF40 Meet honors Jacques Swaters

The event commenced with participant registration and a cocktail party on Friday afternoon and evening at Garage Francorchamps' new premises at Lozenburg 13, Zaventem, in the northeast quarter of Brussels. Saturday was the concours day in the Parc du Cinquantenaire, which houses automobile and aviation museums within its imposing central pillared and arched buildings, on a hill just east of the center of the city.

Ferrari introduces a new Grand Tourer and it's more than anyone expected!

After several years absence, a new and in many ways very different four seat Ferrari has taken its rightful place in the Ferrari family, and the full range of Ferrari offerings, which has been remarkably consistent over several decades, is once again complete. Since the cessation of the beloved 412 in 1989-90, there has been no grand 2+2 model Ferrari - large and roomy, heavy but formidable, luxurious yet sporting - to cater to that segment of the market with requires what is properly called in Italian a 'berlina', and in English a 'saloon'.

With the Ferrari 512 S long tails, we visit a time when racing empires were being created, when car manufacturers decided to go head to head, and when aerodynamics was more a state of mind than a proven practical science. Ferrari has retired at the end of 1967 from endurance racing as the result of a poorly judged new ruling from the CSI forced many manufacturers from the scene, and in the interim in 1968 and 1969, Ferrari played the brutal 350, 612, and 712 CanAm cars for its American audience and the little 312 Ps for the Europeans.

33 Pirelli Maranello Challenge continues

The English series is winding down for this year, but already plans are in place for 1993. Ferrari importer for Great Britain, Maranello Concessionaires, has agreed to sponsor the races again, and Pirelli Tire's English Division will do the same. Ferrari Day at Willow Springs

Some came from as far as 400 miles away. They lined up sometimes fifty people long, unshaded under the blazing southern California sun. The wait was often forty five minutes, for a thrill ride no more than a dew minutes long. But each came away grinning, hearts pounding, saying it was worth the wait. This was Ferrari Day at Willow Springs International Raceway, June 28th.

Five time Le Mans winner, Ferrari F1 driver, World Sports Car Champion - impressive credentials for a driving school owner, let alone one's driving instructor. When my wife and I had the opportunity to attend Derek Bell's school, at Moroso Motorsports Park recently, driving our own cars with Derek and his instructors, we couldn't resist.

Challenge 348 announced

At the Mugello portion of the 30th Anniversary celebration of the 250 GTO, Ferrari rolled out a slightly modified 348 and had Formula One pilot Jean Alesi take it around the track. What was special about it was that it was an example fo the 348s to be entered in the newly announced "Challenge 348." This will be a series of races throughout Europe and the U.S. whereby individual Ferrari owners will compete amongst themselves at various tracks in their own 348s. The winners from various countries will reconvene at Mugello next September for the final championship races.
