18 Ferrari 348 - The Inside Story
A look inside at some of the things that make this Ferrari a marvel

A very nice engineering drawing of the 348 TB chassis. The forward and center sections are a form of uni-body construction, monocoque to a certain extent. The rear section holding the engine, transmission, and rear suspension is made up the old tube frame way, and as a unit, it is detachable from the main chassis.

17 Ferrari Literature source

As you know, the Ferrari Factory has pumped out hundreds of pieces of literature over the years (more than types of cars, in fact), king one think that dealing is such a fertile field would be particularly easy, but the Factory had the almost perverse inclination to often print very few examples of many of the pieces. So you have a big selection, but some examples are exceedingly hard to find.

The Roaring Races - The True Story of Enzo Ferrari Race Car Driver
by Giulio Schmidt, translated: Pietro Castiglioni

We thoroughly enjoyed this book when we first went through the Italian edition, but we've enjoyed it even more now that it's been translated into English. It's a great story, about a great era, and about a great man (our founding Father, after all), and it's a great read. The racing life of Enzo Ferrari from 1919 to 1931 has been exhaustively researched by the author.

20 Ferrari 375 MM s/n 0362 - the numbers game
We present to you a beautiful 375 MM Pinin Farina Spyder...but which one it is?

We begin with a quick history lesson, The year is 1950. There former team manager of the Alfa Romeo team, a Mr. Enzo Ferrari, now has his own team with his own cars, not surprisingly carrying the name Ferrari. Sig. Ferrari had started the postwar years by hiring one of the best engine designers available in Italy, Ing. Gioacchino Colombo, from their mutual former employer, Alfa Romeo.

Somewhat plain, somewhat tame, but still a Ferrari all the same

We must admit, at times, to being elitist in our approach to Ferraris, in that we often gravitate to the more notable, and often notorious, examples of the Ferrari marque, with the natural result that we just as often overlook, or file away for future study and appreciation, the more prosaic and mundane specimens of Ferrari production.

34 Ferraris at Zandvoort
Some venerable Ferraris at this venerable Dutch track

One of the grand old race tracks of a grand old era during the grand old days of Ferrari Grand Prix racing was the Zandvoort circuit in the seaside dunes near the small resort town of Zandvoort in Holland, now the Netherlands. It is still there, although no longer used for important races, which is quite sad, since it was one of the premier events of the Formula One calendar, hosting the Dutch Grand Prix from 1950s to the mid 1980s.

Ferrari receives an F-104

For anyone truly enamoured of Ferraris, a visit to the Factory can be a nearly mystical experience. From time to time, visitors have even left with a small gift to help them remember their day. Some have appreciated the opportunity so much that they actually left a gift for Ferrari. Most recently, the Italian Air Force left an F-104!

38 FAF Motorcars

There is only one Ferrari dealer in the state of Georgia and it happens to be one of the best authorized Ferrari dealers in the Unites States! It is one of the few that are selling Ferraris exclusively, and its goal is to make owning a Ferrari a total pleasure. FAF's service department is outstanding and it is second to none for genuine Ferrari parts.

F40s at Paul Ricard

Yes, we are impressed. Here are fifteen F40s at the Paul Ricard Circuit at Le Castellet, France, on February 4, 1990. They were all sold by the French Ferrari Importer, Ch. Pozzi, to his select customers. The purpose at the gathering was to familiarize the new owners with their cars, at a place where high speeds could be obtained, and where generous run off areas allowed for a safer learning experience.

40 Ferrari Museum Maranello opens

After a long gestation period, the Ferrari Museum in the Viale Ing. Dino Ferrari, Maranello, finally opened its doors to the public on February 13, 1990. The museum is housed within the purpose built Centro Civico. The whole museum area of the building is light and airy, due to the abundance of glass in the structure, which provides good natural light for viewing and photographing the exhibits.

Round number one for the 1990 F1 season began with the United States Grand Prix, location downtown Phoenix, Arizona. This is the second year of a five year contract with the City of Phoenix, and this particular year involved a date change from June (where the temperatures often exceed 100º) to the more comfortable month of March.

49 Brazilian Grand Prix - A Ferrari win 641/2 announced
Formule one

When you hire the World Champion ... need any more be said? Alain Prost won his sixth Brazilian race, and in only his second drive for Ferrari. Although it must be said that if Senna had not had a mishap, Prost might not have caught him, but on the plus side, once Prost did gain the lead, there was no way Senna was able to catch him.

Possible Ferrari Entries in GT Racing

The European Auto Sales Ferrari 308 / GTO Ferrari race car, destined for IMSA GTU racing, is finally coming together. If nothing else, s/n 20537 will win a Concours d'Elegance in the competition division, so nice is the detailing and workmanship. Another 308 racing project is being finalized by MJM Enterprises of Bethel, Connecticut and HRE Motorcars of Freeport, New York. It's a Ferrari 308 GT4, s/n 10716, and it will be able to race in IMSA GTU. There is a big push in Italy to get some 348 TBs into GT competition, and whether this means regular 348s made into race cars, or the rumoured 348 "Sport", we don't know.

52 New Ferrari announced
Formula one

Hopefully to have been seen already at the San Marino GP, as you read this, was the new Ferrari 641/2, announced in March. This car was directly derivative of the preceding 641, but it had in it more of the thoughts of the new post-Barnard technical team assembled at Maranello.

53 Whither F40 LM ... ?

The on-again off-again career of the Ferrari F40 LM continues apace. The car was going to start at Daytona or Sebring, but actual racing was put off until June. Team Ferrari France reserved several days of test time at the Mid Ohio race track in April, but this was cancelled. In the meantime, the Michelotto people, who developed and built these racing F40s, remember, had a car at Fiorano to test Pirelli and Goodyear race rubber.
